H-T's Seidman Named to Yearlong Fellowship

Carrie Seidman, an award-winning reporter, dance critic and arts writer for the Herald-Tribune, has been selected as one of eight 2016 fellows for the Rosalynn Carter Fellowships for Mental Health Journalism.

The center has worked for 20 years "to develop a cadre of journalists who can have a significant impact on the public's understanding of mental illness," the former First Lady said in a statement. "These journalists are making important contributions to lifting some of the stigma associated with mental health issues."

Seidman, who joined the Herald-Tribune in 2010 as an arts writer and dance critic, has written numerous stories on mental health issues and won several Florida and national journalism awards for her in-depth project "The S-Word: The Stigma of Schizophrenia," which also earned her the media award from Mental Health America. …
