Strike Anti-Gay Language from Platform, N.J. Gop Leaders Say

The chairmen of New Jersey's Republican organizations have asked the Republican National Committee to strike language from its national platform that they consider as discriminatory to the LGBT community.

At their meeting in Woodbridge on Wednesday the chairmen voted unanimously urging the national committee and its platform committee to adopt more "neutral" language that neither supports nor condemns gay marriage.

"People felt that the Republican Party is the party of inclusion," Jose Arango, chairman of the Hudson County Republican Party and chairman of the state GOP chairmen's association said Friday.

"The only way that we win in New Jersey is if people think we're inclusive," Arango added.

Earlier this week, platform committee members meeting in Cleveland in advance of the GOP National Convention approved platform language that disapproves of homosexuality, same-sex marriage and transgender rights. …
