Flanagan Eases Past Fana to Set Up Biggest Career Fight

TERRY Flanagan successfully defended his WBO lightweight title for the third time to set up a dream fight with Vasyl Lomachenko.

The undefeated 25-year-old secured a unanimous points win against Mzonke Fana in Cardiff - and will now pursue the biggest fight of his career.

After failing to lure WBA champion Anthony Crolla into an all-Manchester showdown, Flanagan's promoter Frank Warren has opened talks with Lomachenko.

The Ukrainian would be looking to become a three-weight world champion after only three years as a pro.

We're sending England to for the Lightweight Bob US promoter Bob Arum confirmed this week: "I talked to Frank and we're discussing early next year in Lomachenko's ninth or tenth fight, sending him over to England to fight Terry Flanagan for the WBO Lightweight title.

"That will be interesting. Frank is excited about that."

A low key defence against Fana underlined Flanagan's need to test himself against a major name.

Having been heavily critical of his own performance against Derry Mathews in March, he was frustrated by 42-year-old Fana, who wasn't expected to be able to deal with Flanagan's speed, work rate and power. …
