ENGLEWOOD -- Leaders of the proposed Universal Business Academy charter school will hold a town-hall-style meeting on Aug. 4 to introduce the concept of a business charter school to residents.

The meeting, at 7 p.m. at the Ideal Elks Lodge 470, was scheduled after the Universal Business Academy advanced to phase two of the four-step charter school application process outlined by the state, said school founder Isaiah M. Jefferson.

The Universal Business Academy is one of nine proposed charter schools cleared on June 13 to proceed to the second phase. In total, 15 applications were rejected by the state, disqualified for application errors or withdrawn by the submitting party.

Jefferson also is the CEO and co-founder of the non-profit Circles of Color Community Organization, which he said provides lectures for the public school district. …
