Zabaleta Back in Action and Ready to Fight for Place in the Team

Pablo Zabaleta PABLO Zabaleta has given City a huge boost by returning to full training.

The full-back is still the subject of a lot of interest from Serie A clubs, but is said to be ready to stay and see out the final year of his contract with the Blues.

He has been battling back to fitness after missing the end of the season and reportedly having ankle surgery, which ended his chances of getting in the Argentina squad for the Copa America.

That came at the end of a troubled season in which he twice damaged knee ligaments and struggled to regain his form.

But Zabaleta, always a consummate professional, has clearly worked hard during the summer break and is looking trim and fit.

He reported back to the City Football Academy a fortnight ago but has been working individually since then.

Now the 31-year-old City icon is back working with the rest of the group and is set to be included in the squad which flies out to Germany today for tomorrow's opening pre-season fixture against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena. …
