Gathering for the annual Bastille Day celebration Thursday night at the Pittsburgh Golf Club in Squirrel Hill, just hours after news broke of the tragic terror attack in Nice on the French Riviera, local devotees vowed to uphold their passion and support for France.

"The French and the Americans do not let these attacks change who they are and the values we both support," said Jean-Dominique Le Garrec, honorary consul of France. He then said, "Liberte, Egalite, Fraternite," the French national motto: liberty, equality, fraternity.

The event benefited the Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh, Alliance Francaise de Pittsburgh and the French Nationality Room of the University of Pittsburgh. Attendees from all three of those organizations celebrated the joie de vivre with music, dancing and food. …
