I found a striking symmetry between two pieces in the July 14 Post-Gazette: Gene Collier's column "After Five Years, PSU Administrators Still Haven't Been on Trial," and the front-page story "Penguins Discussing Old Arena Site With 3 Companies." Both matters have taxed the public's patience and protracted what should have been simple due process.

In the case of the latter, there was such a rush to judgment as far as the demolition of the Civic Arena was concerned, that no meaningful adaptive reuse plans for this most marvelous and uniquely engineered building could have reasonably been developed. In the interim, the city had invited the pre-eminent architectural design firm, Bjarke Ingels Group, to develop a master plan for development of the Lower Hill site. Yet no mention is made within the Penguins' recent statements for its inclusion within their plans for the property. …
