BREAKING GOOD * Members of Breaking Benjamin, an alternative rock band that performed Sunday night at Hollywood Amphitheatre, took time earlier in the day to visit one of their fans wounded Ballwin police officer Michael Flamion.

Later Sunday, the band posted this message to its Facebook account: "St. Louis we love you so much & we stand with our brothers in blue! Thank you for an unforgettable night!" #thethinblueline."

The Ballwin department shared a photo of the band's visit to Mercy Hospital St. Louis on Facebook and said:

"Breaking Benjamin stopped by the hospital today to meet one of their fans, Officer Flamion! Thank you to everyone that helped make this happen. Very cool experience. #BallwinStrong."

Flamion was shot July 8 in the neck while walking back to his patrol vehicle after stopping a car on New Ballwin Road. Antonio Taylor, 31, has been charged with first-degree assault of a law enforcement officer, armed criminal action and unlawful possession of a weapon.

On a related note, 30 Ballwin area restaurants teamed up to donate a portion of their receipts from Monday night to help pay for Flamion's medical-care costs. Big Chief Roadhouse led the way by committing 100 percent of its Monday take.

Some of the customers weren't even there to eat, she said some just stepped inside to put money into a donation jar.

The Donut Palace in Ellisville posted on its Facebook page that it sold out of its offerings. But the shop recommended that people go next door to Mulligan's Grill, which was also participating in the fundraiser.

"It is absolutely insane," said bartender Jordan Wanko. …
