Police Step Up Station Patrols to Keep Revellers in Check

BRITISH Transport Police are increasing patrols at Manchester city centre railway stations to deal with weekend revellers.

There will be more officers stationed at Manchester Piccadilly station and Victoria station as part of an operation targeting alcohol fuelled anti-social behaviour.

The operation, named Operation Stronghold, will run for the next two weekends at both stations.

Police officers will be deployed from early evening to target peak times at key stations which bring party-goers to city centre destinations BTP hope the campaign will help reassure the public and target alcohol fulled crimes before the night gets underway.

Insp Gary Jones said: "By increasing our visibility and activity we will be reassuring the public that they can travel in a safe and secure environment. …
