Farm Stores is planning to revamp its Sarasota store and add a few more to the market.

The Miami-based drive-thru grocery, bakery and restaurant mashup has been operating out of a 550-square-foot store on Webber Street near South Beneva Road since the 1960s.

The chain, which has about 80 stores, has five others in the Tampa Bay region and has plans to add 50 between there and Sarasota within the next decade, said Maurice Bared, Farm Stores chief operating officer.

Sarasota could see as many as four new Farm Stores within the next two years.

"We have a lot of confidence in the Sarasota market, and we're under-serving it for sure," Bared said.

Farm Stores carries an assortment of dairy products, bakery goods, groceries, beverages and cleaning supplies as well as an assortment of ready-to-eat snacks and meals such as hot soups, deli salads, empanadas and sandwiches. …
