EDMOND - James Machell, dean of the College of Education and Professional Studies at the University of Central Oklahoma, has been selected as a member of a multi-state network exploring how to improve educator preparation.

The Network for Transforming Educator Preparation is an initiative sponsored by the Council of Chief State School Officers, a national organization of public officials who head state departments of elementary and secondary education.

The network will examine policy and practices related to teacher licensure, educator program approval and data collection, analysis, and reporting.

Robyn Miller, deputy superintendent for educator effectiveness and policy research for the Oklahoma State Department of Education, leads the Oklahoma NTEP team.

In addition to Machell, team members include Lawrence Baines, associate dean for research and graduate studies at the Jeannine Rainbolt College of Education at the University of Oklahoma; Jennifer Job, assistant professor of teaching and curriculum leadership for the College of Education at Oklahoma State University; Renee Launey-Rodolf, director of educational quality for the Office of Educational Quality and Accountability; and Ellen Dollarhide, executive director of quality schools for the Oklahoma Department of Education. …
