THIS summer the Manchester Community Games will be encouraging people to become more active with a host of free activities across the city.

The games, which run throughout the year, aim to encourage everyone to get out and get involved. So whether you're young or old, superfit or a bit-out-of shape there's bound to be something of interest in the community games programme.

Highlights to look out for include the upcoming East Manchester Community Games events at Park View Community Pitch, Miles Platting, on Saturday, from 12-3pm, and at Sporting Edge, Openshaw, on Wednesday, August 10, 12-4pm. In north Manchester Boggart Hole Clough will be holding its own games event on Sunday, from 12-4pm. All the events promise a selection of action-packed sports and activities to try out free of charge. Activities include skateboarding, dodgeball, football and athletics. …
