WOODLAND PARK -- The recent suspension of state-funded road work has snarled plans for completing the McBride Avenue streetscape project.

The suspension began last month when Governor Christie ordered a stop to all such projects except where absolutely necessary. Work is halted as negotiations among state lawmakers continue over how to replenish the state's Transportation Trust Fund, which helps to finance road projects.

But the standstill has Mayor Keith Kazmark and other mayors in New Jersey frustrated. In Woodland Park, the suspension could push back the start of work on the McBride Avenue streetscape project, originally expected to begin in the latter half of the summer.

Borough officials were set to go out to bid last month and to award the bid to a contractor during the council meeting set for Aug. …
