'Disgusting' Key 103 Competition Broke Rules, Says Ofcom

KEY 103's Heartless Hotline which involved a mother having cash she wanted to use to get a fair divorce settlement snatched away by a woman who needed a holiday, broke broadcasting rules according to Ofcom.

Three listeners complained about the segment, which one described as 'disgusting', featuring Mike Toolan and Coronation street star Brooke Vincent inviting people to 'steal' cash away from previous callers simply by stating the reason they needed it.

The mother-of-two, known as 'Sarah' from Eccles, said she needed the Pounds 2,000 to pay for her divorce and a court order that would let her keep her home.

She told listeners she had found her husband cheating on her and her father died unexpectedly - but the cash was snatched away by a woman who said she needed a holiday.

The pair spoke on air on April 27, with Sarah, clearly distressed that someone had called to take the cash, saying 'this is my children's future'. …
