CITY fans can get a glimpse of the future as well as Pep Guardiola 's present on the opening day of the Premier League season.

The new manager begins his Blues reign with a tea-time kick-off against Sunderland, hours after the exciting new crop of under-18s take on West Brom across the road at the City Football Academy.

Hopes are high that this season's under-18s can at least match last season's vintage, which won the league title and reached the FA Youth Cup final.

Last season's under-16s take a step up after going through the entire season unbeaten, a feat that caught the eye of chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak. He said: "To go unbeaten in any sport is a remarkable feat but particularly in football and particularly at that age group.
