Experience the wonderful world of water at West Virginia American Water Company's Waterfest event in Charleston. Waterfest takes place from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, at the Kanawha Valley Water Treatment Plant on Court Street.

The free festival and open house will offer water treatment plant tours, educational demonstrations, children's activities, face painting and refreshments. Plus, the event's Splash Zone will feature water games, inflatable water slides and slip-and-slides, so prepare to get wet.

"WaterFest allows customers to meet the professionals who work 24/ 7 to produce and deliver clean water to the communities we serve in and around the Kanawha Valley, while offering a family-friendly atmosphere where learning is fun, said Jeff McIntyre, president of West Virginia American Water. …
