Wine Finds: White Wines from Spain's Rioja

Rioja, Spain's most famous wine region, is mostly known for its rich, oaked red wines made from tempranillo grapes. But Rioja is also home to some interesting and flavorful whites, called Rioja Blanco. These wines are made primarily from the viura grape varietal. Viura, known in some parts of Spain as macabeo, is one of the grapes frequently used in the popular Spanish sparkling wine called Cava. Other grapes often found in Rioja whites are malvasa and garnacha blanca, also known as white grenache.
