Alex Rodriguez was benched again Wednesday, with rookie call-up Gary Sanchez getting the start at designated hitter against Mets lefty Steven Matz. Manager Joe Girardi wouldn't commit to A-Rod being his DH tonight against Bartolo Colon, despite Rodriguez's monstrous career stats against the right-hander.

"I know in the past he's had a lot of success off him," Girardi said of A-Rod's career .411 (23-for-56) average against Colon, with eight home runs, 20 RBI and a whopping 1.429 OPS. "But I'll look [later] when I get home to see what's next."

But if A-Rod isn't starting at DH against lefties, or against pitchers he's historically hit well, when might he expect to get any at-bats on this new-look Yankees roster? Managing general partner Hal Steinbrenner is in New York this week, and among the organizational topics on the table is A-Rod's future in pinstripes. …
