NEMANJA Vidic has rubbished claims he struggled against former Liverpool striker Fernando Torres.

The United great experienced a chastening afternoon against the Spaniard during Liverpool's 4-1 win at Old Trafford in 2009, when the Serbian gifted Torres an equaliser and was sent off in the second-half.

Vidic was red-carded three times against Liverpool, although Torres was not involved in any of the fouls, and the 34-year-old insisted Didier Drogba was his toughest opponent.

"People say: 'You had a difficult game against Torres', but it was just the one game," Vidic said.

"I went to head the ball but changed my mind and tried to pass to Edwin [van der Sar].

"I misjudged the distance and Torres scored. …
