A TEENAGE boy who was battered about the head with a hammer is still in hospital.

Police say the 16-year-old has 'improved slightly' and is stable but remains in a serious condition after suffering serious head injuries.

Detectives have launched a major investigation after the street attack, which happened at Chapel Street Park in Levenshulme on Friday evening.

The youngster was found lying on the floor with serious injuries when police were called to the area just before 6pm. He was rushed unconscious to hospital where he received urgent treatment for serious injuries to his head.

It is understood that the teenager's family are keeping a vigil at his bedside. Police have not yet made any arrests and descriptions of the offenders have not been released. …
