PEP Guardiola says he was impressed with Raheem Sterling's performance against Arsenal in Gothenburg.

The City boss switched the winger to the right to see if the 21- year-old felt more comfortable going down the outside - and it was a move that worked.

Sterling set up the opener for Sergio Aguero and looked more comfortable than he did towards the end of last season when his form slumped and he lost his place in the City side. Guardiola revealed he also played there against St Johnstone - and with new signing Nolito set to take up a role on the left, it could become a more permanent position.

"The two goals came because we attacked the byline," Guardiola said. "It was two crosses. The first from Sterling and the second from Jesus [Navas]. All the typical players come inside - I like to go and attack the byline. …
