1946 After 47 years under ownership of the Dreyfuss family, the Pittsburgh Pirates Baseball Club was purchased, at a price reported to be about $2,250,000, by a group that was headed by Indianapolis banker Frank E. McKinney and included singer Bing Crosby, attorney Thomas P. Johnson of Pittsburgh, and property developer John W. Galbraith of Columbus, Ohio.
