Fenway fight

July 24, 2004: A-Rod gestures toward Red Sox pitcher Bronson Arroyo after being plunked and is immediately shoved in the face by catcher Jason Varitek, leading to a brawl at Fenway Park. Varitek supposedly tells A-Rod, "We don't throw at .260 hitters."

The glove slap

Oct. 19, 2004: In Game 6 of the ALCS against the Red Sox, A-Rod gets called out for interference for slapping at the glove hand of Arroyo, knocking the ball loose, as he was running to first base. He finishes series 1-for-15 with no RBI as the Yanks blow a 3-0 series lead.

War of words

February 2005: Hammered by Red Sox players for seemingly boastful comments made to The Record's Bob Klapisch about his lengthy workout regimen. …
