THE times they are a-changing. In fact, they've already changed at Swansea City - with this new Premier League season being seen as an indicator whether it is for the better or not.

Because for the first time since the Swans began their rise from bottom division ugly ducklings to the beauty of the top flight, the local owners who oversaw the ascent have by and large made way.

A new US consortium is in majority charge at the Liberty Stadium as Swansea follow the lead of so many Premier League clubs who have fallen into the hands of foreign ownership.

The Welsh takeover has split opinion amongst fans, but it can't be denied that the access to new dollar-backed funds was needed with the transfer market having become an increasingly difficult place for the Swans to compete.

That Swansea begin a sixth successive season in the Premier League is down to an impressive second-half surge, something that was credited to Italian manager Francesco Guidolin who replaced the sacked Garry Monk in January. …
