Fighting Fit ; Yaya's Agent Says Injury-Free Star Will Stay and Battle for Place despite European Snub

By SIMON BAJKOWSKI YAYA Toure wants to stay and fight for his place at City despite another snub from Pep Guardiola.

Toure, 33, did not even make the plane for tonight's Champions League game with Steaua Bucharest, with the coach happy to leave him out of a 21-man squad. It means the Ivorian midfielder will not have kicked a ball in either of City's first two games of the season and gives extra weight to the idea that he is not part of Guardiola's plans.

The City boss explained that while Toure was training "amazing", he thought it would be best for the player to stay in Manchester if he couldn't be guaranteed game time.

Dmitri Seluk, Toure's agent, said that his client "would stay and fight", adding that there had been no talk of a transfer.

"Pep is the best manager in the world and I just hope he gives Yaya the chance to prove he is still good enough for City," he said. …
