The film "After Coal" about South Wales and Appalachia will be shown at Tamarack in Beckley at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 18. Filmmaker Tom Hansell will be there for a Q&A. The film, is billed as a "feature length documentary and community engagement project."

We mentioned it in our editorial comparing Wales to West Virginia (and that region's Brexit vote with this region's support for Donald Trump).

The event, sponsored by the West Virginia Humanities Council and West Virginia Public Broadcasting, starts at 6:30 p.m. with refreshments, followed by the hour-long film and then discussion. The event is free and open to the public.
