Sarasota found a tough way to take its first loss in the Babe Ruth 13-year-old World Series in Ottumwa, Iowa.

The Pacific Northwest champions from Spokane, Washington, rallied to beat Sarasota 6-4 on Friday at Greater Ottumwa Park.

Andrew Heesh drove in the tiebreaking run with a bloop single in the sixth inning, then Ryan Clay drew a bases-loaded walk for insurance.

Sarasota loaded the bases in the seventh, but came up empty as Spokane turned in two great defensive plays to end the game.

Sarasota got two runs in the first on a Chase Palmer RBI single and a force play. A wild pitch in the second plated the Southeast champion's third run, then Fred D'Ariano scored on a front end of a double steal to make it 4-0.

Spokane answered with three runs in the bottom of the fourth on two hits, an error and a force play. …
