MORGANTOWN - For the second time in five days, West Virginia is reeling from an ACL injury that will cost a key contributor the entire season. The Mountaineers announced Tuesday that freshman linebacker Brendan Ferns injured his left knee in practice Monday and will not be able to play in 2016. On Friday, WVU revealed that starting free safety Dravon Askew-Henry suffered an identical injury in practice two days earlier.

Ferns was rated as a four-star recruit by the major scouting services and played in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl following his senior season at Ohio's St. Clairesville High. He was included within the Rivals250, the ESPN300 and the Scout300 and was ranked as the No. 7-ranked linebacker by 247Sports and Scout and No. 16 nationally by Rivals. …
