Volunteers Sought for United Way Day of Caring

Celebrating its 11th Annual Day of Caring Sept. 21, United Way of Central West Virginia's volunteers will help nonprofit agencies stock kitchen pantries, paint, clean, landscape and perform construction work. Kickoff rallies will take place at 8:30 a.m. in Boone, Clay, Kanawha, Logan and Putnam counties. Then, volunteers will tackle improvement projects in each county. This year's theme is "Picture a Better Tomorrow.

"Through the Day of Caring, volunteers have the opportunity to help local people and agencies and see what can happen when we all work together. It's a celebration of volunteerism and being able to support our communities with hard work while having fun and, most importantly, making a difference in the lives of those in need, said John Ballengee, president of United Way of Central West Virginia. …
