Teaneck Trustees to Tap Interim Superintendent

TEANECK -- The Board of Education plans to appoint Vincent McHale as interim superintendent to replace Barbara Pinsak, the current public schools chief who is retiring on Sept. 1.

A resolution to appoint McHale is up for adoption by the school board on Wednesday. McHale has been the district's assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction since 2011. Before that, he was principal of Hawthorne Elementary School.

McHale's annual salary will be $167,500, according to the resolution.

"He's very bright and has great ideas," Pinsak said Tuesday. "And I think he would do very well in the capacity as interim."

McHale could not be reached for comment Tuesday.

Pinsak, who has been superintendent since 2011, announced her retirement earlier this month after nearly four decades of service in the district. …
