TOWN AND COUNTRY * Westminster Christian Academy's bid to build lights and a public address system for its football stadium suffered a major setback in court Friday.

St. Louis County Circuit Judge Ellen Ribaudo late Monday upheld the Town and Country Board of Alderman's decision in September denying the private school a conditional use permit to install lighting and a sound system for its football stadium. The city denied the permit over concerns lighting and sound could create a nuisance and negatively affect surrounding neighborhoods.

In a statement issued in response to the ruling, Westminster said: "We are disappointed by this decision, but we do respect and value the judicial process and look forward to being a good neighbor within Town and Country for many years to come."

Westminster sued Town and Country in October, saying the aldermen's decision was illegal and discriminatory based on the city previously granting Principia School and Christian Brothers College High School permits for field lighting. …
