More Than $47,000 Raised in 24 Hours for Children's Miracle Network

More than $47,000 was raised in 24 hours during the 2016 Children's Miracle Hope-A-Thon.

The fundraising effort ran from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 17 and 18.

Topeka radio stations Majic 107.7 and 99.3 The Eagle helped get the word out. This was the first Hope-A-Thon hosted by the two stations, which are owned by Cumulus Media.

"We want to harness the power of listeners -- you feel like you bring the community together for a greater good," said Cumulus Media operations manager Amber Lee.

The funds will help kids in northeast Kansas who face a range of serious health issues.

Lee said an area boy with autism who is nonverbal was helped by the Children's Miracle Network. The funds allowed his family to purchase an iPad with a special program to help him communicate. …
