Man, 80, struck by car dies from injuries

One of two pedestrians struck by a car after a Pirates game this month has died.

William Gallagher, 80, of New Brighton died at Allegheny General Hospital at 12:04 a.m. Thursday, according to the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's office.

Mr. Gallagher and his wife, Linda, were struck as they crossed West General Robinson Street near Mazeroski Way shortly after 11 p.m. Aug. 9.

No update was available on Ms. Gallagher's condition.

Bryant Michael Ellis, 28, of West Mifflin has been charged with two felony counts of causing an accident that involved personal injury while not properly licensed, as well as a summary count of driving without a license.

He remains in the Allegheny County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail and faces a preliminary hearing Wednesday. …
