Local Health Centers Receive Federal Grants

The Florida Department of Health in Sarasota County and MCR Health Services were among 46 federally qualified health centers in Florida to receive grants to invest in health center quality improvements, federal officials announced Thursday.

The health centers received the grants for their success in improving health center and clinical quality. Sarasota County's health center received $52,186 and MCR Health Services in Manatee County received $177,849 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

"Millions of Americans rely on health centers to provide them with quality health care," said Dr. Mary Wakefield, HHS acting deputy secretary, in a statement. "These quality improvement awards will support health centers to continue to deliver superior health care that engages patients, improves care coordination and bridges overall access to care. …
