WAYNE -- After 56 years reigning over the building where Wayne Elks 2181 has been aiding others, "Wayne Elk" himself has gotten some much-needed help in maintaining his signature crown of antlers.

Tom Margiotta, chairman of the board of directors for No. 2181, said the statue had experienced some rotting around the rack.

So members banded together, donated their services and did what they needed to do to fix the problem.

"The antlers actually fell down and one day a Boy Scout was walking by and came into tell us his antlers had fallen. We thought that was cute," Margiotta said.

A new pair of antlers was found online from Cabela's Sporting Goods, out of Nebraska.

But getting the statue from his perch was the tricky part. That problem, said Margiotta, was solved by Butler Sign Co. …
