I was excited to read Pittsburgh Public Schools superintendent Anthony Hamlet's 90-day transition plan, a road map that values and prioritizes the needs of our students ("Hamlet Lays Out Transition Plans," Aug. 10).

The new community schools policy passed by the Pittsburgh Public Schools Board of Education lays the groundwork for a robust, well-rounded curriculum that addresses the diverse needs of our children and prepares them for college, a career and active citizenship. Not every child comes to school with the same resources, but every child should have the same opportunity to learn and succeed. A strong community schools policy makes that opportunity more equitable.
