Swat Situation Ends Peacefully

Pittsburgh police apprehended a Bloomfield man Sunday afternoon after a two-hour standoff at his residence and an earlier domestic confrontation, authorities said.

A city SWAT team responded about 10:15 a.m. to the home of Aaron Hurtt, 28, in the 4600 block of Carroll Street, said Sonya Toler, a spokeswoman for the Department of Public Safety.

He had retreated to the residence after threatening his girlfriend around 8:30 a.m. and breaking into the Point Breeze building where she lives, police said in a statement. They said she escaped without injury.

When authorities arrived at the Carroll Street address, Ms. Toler said, Mr. Hurtt barricaded himself there and refused to come out. They believed he may have had access to at least one firearm, although it wasn't clear whether he had a gun in the home, according to police. …
