Pascack School Board Prepares to Replace a Longtime Trustee

HILLSDALE - The Pascack Valley Regional High School District Board of Education will have a list of possible replacements by the end of this week for Alfred Murphy, a longtime school board member who announced his resignation last month.

Murphy, 84, cited health issues when he made the announcement in late July. Since then, the board has asked for Hillsdale residents who may be interested in joining the board to send letters of intent for it to consider.

Besides serving on the Pascack Valley Board of Education, Murphy also served as mayor of Hillsdale from 1980 to 1987, was a councilman before that, served on the borough's Planning Board for a year and also was a member of Hillsdale's local school board.

"We all have an obligation to serve our community," Murphy said on Monday. …
