United Airlines will start offering seasonal daily service in December between Key West International Airport and Newark Liberty International Airport.

The Chicago-based carrier also will debut a seasonal route in January between Key West and Chicago O'Hare Airport.

"This is brand new at both airports," Jonathan Guerin, a United Airlines spokesman, said Monday.

At Newark, the airline will use a 70-seat Embraer 170 regional jet, which has two cabins -- United First and economy class -- flown by Republic Airlines under the United Express banner.

The service will operate from Dec. 16 through May 4, Guerin said.

So far, it is the only non-stop scheduled service offered this winter from the New York City-area airports to Key West.

Tickets for the Key West flights went on sale this weekend and the one-way fares offered Monday at United. …
