SAM Allardyce hopes Pep Guardiola can do to John Stones what he did to Gerard Pique.

The new England manager wants to build his defence around Manchester City's Pounds 47.5m defender.

But to do that, he insists Stones must turn potential into the real thing.

The early signs are promising with the 22-year-old producing three impeccable performances at the start of the season. And Allardyce believes Guardiola's influence can raise the former Everton man to new heights.
