Golson Plots a Comeback in November

Article excerpt

Steelers cornerback Senquez Golson is eyeing a November return after having surgery earlier this month for a Lisfranc injury in his left foot. Whether the Steelers can plan for his return is another matter.

NFL teams can only bring one player back from injured reserve during the season. Golson does not have to be designated as that player now, but, if another injury comes up, the team could be forced to use that on another player.

The good news for Golson is his mid-foot injury is responding well to rehabilitation. He said at minimum he is seven weeks away from returning. That would place him back by the middle of October. In the worse-case scenario he said he would return to "full speed" by the end of November.

"I'll definitely be back this year," Golson said Tuesday, his first remarks since he was injured in an Aug. 1 practice at Saint Vincent College, Latrobe. "I'm thinking sometime in November. For sure by the end of November, I'll be full-speed back."

Ramon Foster, the Steelers player rep for the union, said Monday the footwear NFL teams provide their players can lead to injuries. He mentioned the Lisfranc injury by name. Golson was asked about the footwear he had on at the time he was injured and confirmed it was an older model shoe.

"I had a few people mention to me the cleats I was wearing," Golson said. …
