Pitt: Transgender-Related Services Will Be Covered

The University of Pittsburgh is now offering coverage for faculty and staff of certain medically necessary transgender-related services.

The change is outlined in a correspondence Aug. 15 to employees from John Kozar, assistant vice chancellor for human resources.

Mr. Kozar said the change brings Pitt's benefit plan into compliance with an updated final rule pertaining to sex discrimination in employment promulgated by the U.S. Department of Labor Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs.

The updated rule is an interpretation of a Presidential Order from 1965, Mr. Kozar said.
