AFTER last night's opener, when we saw the tiny 18-year-old Alexandrina officially become Queen Victoria and battle her way through her first public and private challenges, we're straight down to business in episode two.

Her scheming Uncle Cumberland is still determined to do anything he can to get his hands on that crown, including telling anyone who'll listen that the new Queen might also have a touch of the Madness of King George about her and can't be trusted to rule the Empire by herself.

So he helpfully comes up with a plan which would see him and her mother stepping in as Co-Regents. Nice try, dodgy Duke.

Victoria (Jenna Coleman) is finding it easy to stand firm while she has the dreamy Lord Melbourne (Rufus Sewell) by her side.

But when he loses power in the House and tells her he will have to step down as Prime Minister, she is beside herself. …
