Coach Wants Swinton to Pull Away from Rivals for Relegation

SWINTON are looking to put more distance between themselves and the two Cumbrian sides at the bottom of the Championship table when they take on Workington Town at Heywood Road today.

The Lions come into the clash on the back of an impressive 40-38 victory away to full-timers Sheffield Eagles - a result that snapped a run of eight successive defeats.

And Swinton coach John Duffy was full of praise for his players after the win.

"We changed from what we'd been doing and it seemed to have worked," he said. "It's all down to the players, who have really bought into it and got a result.

"Everyone down at that end is desperate, including ourselves, and the game versus Workington is another tough one. Although they've got injuries, as have we, I think they've got a good squad and Phil (Veivers) is a good coach. …
