Police to Enforce School-Zone Traffic City Bus Stops Targeted as Well

Pittsburgh police plan to keep a close eye on drivers as city students return to school this week.

The police bureau last week reminded drivers to take proper precautions when driving through school zones, where the speed limit is typically 15 mph, and while driving near school buses. It said motorcycle and traffic-enforcement officers will be out "in full force" for two weeks as part of an effort to make sure children get to school safely.

"Members of the Pittsburgh Police will take the necessary measures to help protect our children," Cmdr. Ed Trapp said in a news release. "We will continuously enforce school zone violations throughout the City to ensure all students arrive at school safely."

The commander reminded people to "drive with care, remain alert and obey all laws when driving through school zones or approaching a school bus that is picking up or dropping off children. …
