Columbia Notches Walk-Off Win over Power

COLUMBIA, S.C. - The West Virginia Power dropped a close game Wednesday to the Columbia Fireflies, losing 5-4 in the second game of a three-game series. The Fireflies scored the winning run in walk-off fashion in the bottom of the ninth when Dale Burdick doubled off Power reliever Seth McGarry, driving in Will Barring, who reached on a walk.

The Power (33-32 in the second half, 67-66 overall) opened the scoring in the third inning. Third baseman Tyler Filliben tripled with one out and scored on a ground out by leadoff hitter Casey Hughston.

The Fireflies (28-37, 64-71) tied the game in the bottom of the third. Barring led off with a single, moved to third on a single by Dale Burdick and scored on a wild pitch.

In the fifth, the Power regained the lead when Jordan George doubled to left and scored on John Bormann's single. …
