Academy Newcomer McKenna Has Earned His Spurs as a Respected Youth- Team Coach

UNITED have appointed former Tottenham star-maker Kieran McKenna as their new youth team boss.

As part of the Reds academy overhaul, the 30-year-old has teamed up at United's Aon training complex to take control of the Under- 18s.

The vacancy arose last season when successful youth-team boss Paul McGuinness and the Reds parted company after more than 25 years service with the club.

United's youngsters had hit a form slump and lost 12 games in a row. As the club undertook a root and branch review of the youth system, McGuinness, who guided current first teamers Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard to the 2011 FA Youth Cup, departed.

But now the highlyrated McKenna has been recruited from Spurs.
