PARENTS are still keen to take inspiration from film and TV when it comes to naming their newborns.

There were 80 boys named Loki in 2015, up from 74 in 2014, possibly a sign of the continuing popularity of the Marvel universe films, with 13 boys also named Thor.

Disney's live action version of Cinderella may have helped push Ella back into the top 10 girls names for the first time since 2007, with 3,028 girls given the name in 2015, putting it at sixth most popular.

However, parents may have decided to 'Let it Go' when it comes to Elsa as a baby name choice, with the name falling from 537 girls in 2014 to 190 in 2015.

It may have only been released in December, but the latest Star Wars film may have inspired some name choices. There were 512 Finns in 2015, up from 488 in 2014, while the number of Leias were up from 75 to 93. …
