Post-Gazette TV writer Rob Owen offers a viewing tip for the coming week

TUESDAY AND THURSDAY

"Atlanta" and "Better Things," 10 p.m. each night, FX

FX debuts two more low-fi comedies that are quietly funny, "Atlanta" on Tuesday and "Better Things" on Thursday. Both series offer entertaining, even addictive half-hours that are funnier than many of the other intermittently funny series in the lo-fi comedy sub-genre.

Donald Glover stars in "Atlanta" as a young man with a daughter and dead-end job who aspires to manage his would-be rap star cousin's career. The milieu -Atlanta's African-American community -is unique.

"The thesis with the show was kind of to show people how it felt to be black, and you can't really write that down," Mr. Glover said at an August FX press conference. …
