Food Pantry Opens in Custer County

WEATHERFORD - The Weatherford Food & Resource Center will open Sept. 8 in a former National Guard armory.

The former armory at 122 S. Eighth St. in Weatherford was renovated with the help of the city, volunteers and other donors.

The Weatherford Food & Resource Center will be operated in affiliation with the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma. The center will have a shopping area similar to a grocery store that allows clients to choose the food including fresh fruits and vegetables.

Support for the Weatherford Food & Resource Center was provided by ASAP Energy, Devon Energy, Inasmuch Foundation, James H. Horsburgh, Jeff and Melanie DeFehr, Joe Sullivan, Life Fellowship Church, Sarkeys Foundation, Tim, Deb and Parker Hanson and the Weatherford Rotary Club.

U.S. Rep. Frank Lucas, R-Oklahoma, attended a dedication ceremony for the center on Tuesday. …
